Where we are
Find us on the map. La Zahurda is situated below the tiny and peaceful village of Comares, only one hour drive from airport and 45 minutes to the nearest beach at Torre del Mar.
Set in its own 2.5 acres of grape, almond and olive producing land La Zahurda enjoys spectacular mountain and sea views. It lies nestled beneath the southerly sheer fortress-like face of Comares approached by a short 3 minute drive down a secluded side track. With no passing traffic, sit back, relax and breathe in the tranquility.
Comares
Comares is a village in Andalusia an autonomous region of Spain. The village has changed little over the years, still quiet and far enough from the coast to remain Spanish in character and language. Take the 20 minute walk up to the village exploring the tourist free, narrow, winding streets. The village caters for basic everyday needs; you will find a supermarket, post office, pharmacy, restaurant, tapas bars and a couple of banks.
Local tourism
Most sites of interest are within a 2 hour drive of La Zahurda. The world famous La Alhambra in Granada is a must visit (pre-booking is essential).
Along the coast is Nerja, its heart being the spectacular Balcon de Europa, a magnificent promenade with sweeping views of the Mediterranean and small coves and beaches. Nerja boasts 16 kilometres of beaches with powdery sand and sparkling clear water. All major water sports are available here, including water-skiing, scuba diving and sailing.
A great day out and favourite of our guests is the Water park at Velez Malaga only 30 minutes drive away.
Looking to the east from La Zahurda is the Natural Park Sirras de Tajeda dominated by the 2,080m Mount Maroma. This is superb hiking country and its numerous steep crags make ideal for aspiring rock climbers.
